My brother knights,
Celebration is in order! The Equestrian Order of Saint Thomas has existed and thrived for 5 full months. I cannot be more proud of what we have accomplished here. We have created a stable and friendly community where we members are free to express and live out their faith in every area of our lives, whether personal, micronational, intellectual or spiritual. I am proud to call myself a member of this holy and illustrious institution, and I am equally proud to call you all my friends. I hope there will be many more months spent in the service of God and our respective nations.
You know what else being around for 5 months means? Elections. The Constitutional Charter dictates that the terms for officers of the Order last 6 months; that means it’s time for us to decide who our officers will be for the next 6 month term. I’ve been thinking a lot about how to run these elections, and I’ve come up with a system that I hope y’all will approve of. It’ll be simple if the new officers start their term on the first day of July, so let's say voting can take place between now and then. To vote, sign out of your account and reply to this post as a guest using a random guest name that will not give away your identity. In this manner, how you vote will remain private but the votes can still be counted and verified publicly. In your reply, indicate your top three choices for each of the offices of Grand Master, Grand Marshal, and Chancellor. This way, if Person A was elected to multiple offices, the votes he received for the lower office can be transferred so that another candidate can be elected for that office. After we have received all of the votes, we will go down the line and as a community count the votes and then determine who won each election.
Here’s an example of how to reply to this thread:
I have one final request: being an officer for an organization such as this is an honor that one should accept humbly. Therefore, please refrain from any campaigning or behind the scenes vote buying. We all know each other, and we all can make judgments as to who is best suited for each office. Whether you get elected or not, trust that your brethren will make the right decision.
It has been a wonderful experience serving with you these past months, and I hope these elections will allow our Order to continue to grow and prosper.
